KUALA LUMPUR: Police have released photographs of 49 people for various offences committed during last Saturday's protest.
Twenty-two have been identified as students.
City Chief Police Officer Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamad Salleh, who distributed the photographs of the 49 to the media, urged all those identified to come forward and assist in investigations.
“It is better for them to come to us rather then for us to go after them.
“Those who know the people concerned should also advise them to assist us or call us as to their whereabouts,'' he told reporters this at a press conference at the city police headquarters here on Thursday.
DCP Mohamad said to date police have received 258 reports linked to the protest.
Lawyers, journalists, protesters, shopkeepers, and members of the public as well as policemen lodged the reports.
“We will investigate every report and will be fair to all concerned regardless of their background.
“The investigations will be thorough, fair and transparent,'' he added.
