\                JOHOR BAHRU (May 3, 2012): Five members of a family, including three children, aged between four and 11 were found dead inside a car at an air-cond repair workshop in Jalan Serangkai, Pasir Gudang last night.
The five, comprising the father and mother of the three children, aged 32 and 34 respectively, were believed to have died after inhaling carbon monoxide emitted from a car for the past 48 hours.
According to Seri Alam Police Chief Supt Roslan Zainuddin, police had initially received a report from the public after coming across a stinking smell from inside the workshop at about 7.10pm yesterday.
"Based on the report, we carried out an investigation and found a Proton Iswara Aeroback car parked inside the workshop with its engine still running and upon further inspection found a dead man in the driver's seat.
"By his side was a woman holding a four-year-old child, while the bodies of a nine-year-old girl and a 11-year-old boy was found in the back seat of the same car," he told reporters here last tonight.
After initial investigations, police have classified the case as sudden death and ruled out any criminal act since there were no stab marks or signs of a struggle.
However, police will continue investigations to determine the motive of the incident.
The family are said to be living in the premises with the father of the victim, aged 63. During the incident the father was not at home since he was just discharged from hospital after receiving treatment for a kidney ailment and the last time he had met his son and the family was on Sunday
