By: Muhammad Zaidi

MUKAH: Two journalists with the See Hua Group were killed when the car they were in collided head-on with a bus at the 20km Mukah/Balingan Road here today.

Gaing anak Kunding, 48, of English daily 'The Borneo Post' and his colleague, Patricia Yiu, 31, of the 'See Hua Daily News' were killed on the spot.

The bodies were sent to the Mukah Hospital.

Mukah police chief DSP Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob said the bus was on its way to Sibu from here when it collided with the car driven by Gaing about 11am.

He said the journalists were returning to the town after attending the earth-breaking ceremony of a kindergarten at longhouse Rh.Aji, about 40km from here when the crash occurred.

Gaing, a Universiti Teknologi Malaysia graduate, was from Nanga Ngungun in Kanowit.

He was a bank officer and a business executive with a private company before joining the now-defunct English daily, 'The Eastern Times', and later, 'The Borneo Post'.

Yiu was recently transferred to Mukah from Kuching.
